   What defines our lives? . . . What connects us all? . . .

Theatre and multi media came together in LANDED, a dynamic celebration of the lives and experiences of our unique multicultural communities.  Developed from interviews with people from our multicultural community here in the Riverland, LANDED was performed at the 2006 Adelaide Fringe Festival by RYT’s Senior Ensemble who presented stories through their eyes; exploring the yearning of migrants for their homes, Indigenous accounts, farmers memories of the land before chemical destruction and what connects us all.

Landed has been a phenomenal success for all those involved in the project and has had a significant impact on participants, RYT and the Riverland community as a whole. Aside from the obvious benefits to the company in terms of industry recognition and profile as a result of receiving the 2006 YEP Youth Fringe Award, nomination for the Adelaide Theatre Guide Award (Best Show – Drama), an SA Great Regional Award (Youth) and excellent reviews, all participants have had a remarkable and unforgettable experience.

Congratulations on what was one of the highlights of my festival.” Leigh Mangin, Carclew

“I loved actually being a part of the play itself so that even when I’m finished with landed the script still has my thoughts in it. The rehearsal allowed me to stretch physical boundaries and I gained many friendships. The performance allowed me to be exposed to an amazing experience that was HEAPS of fun!” Participant - LANDED

“It exceeded all my expectations and shared the stories of everyone in our multicultural community”. Participant

“I just wanted to say a big personal ‘thank you!’ for your participation in the Adelaide Fringe’s YEP. Your presence in the 2006 Youth & Education Program was, according to all reports, simply wonderful . . . I have only heard amazing responses back from your gigs here . . . one arts administrator remarked to me that Landed was possibly the best youth-for-youth show he has seen in many, many years! . . . so congrats!” -
Natasha Philips, Fringe Youth & Education Program Coordinator

The creative development of LANDED lead participants on a journey of discovery which enabled all to gain a valuable insight into the diverse nature of the region and its communities whilst uncovering and discovering the colour, richness and strength of the multicultural stories which formed the starting point for this captivating play.
