Eight lucky Riverland young people are set to begin the Youth Entrepreneurial Leadership Program later this month.
Managed by Riverland Youth Theatre the YELP Program is a series of free workshops that will provide opportunities for the participants to develop business skills towards their creative ideas on things such as leadership, communication, networking, business development, marketing & finance.
The participants enrolled into the program bring a wide range of creative ideas & interests including film & television making, sketching & painting, professional musician, web design, writing / journalism, lighting & sound design.
“One participant for example would like to be a successful musician, create albums, do movie scores and also create and exhibit visual art. That person wants to learn things like sales techniques, information on how to exhibit, market research techniques. The YELP program aims at providing exactly that sort of information, says Julie Waddington Artistic Director of Riverland Youth Theatre.”
RYT is also looking for small business mentors to help support participants between the training weekends with the development of their business plans.
“The mentoring will involve a few hours each month in May and June, so if you are a small business owner or have experience in this area and can spare some time to support young people please contact RYT, says Julie.”
The YELP program is designed and facilitated by coup de theatre, the State Theatre Company of South Australia’s corporate and community training arm, and is an initiative of the Government of South Australia as part of the South Australia Works in the Regions program supported by the Sturt Area Consultative Committee.
