PlayFest_09 to hit the stage
 



The community arts festival PlayFest_09 will hit the stage at the Renmark Institute after months of preparation and rehearsal. The festival is being embraced by local artists from across the region and also from Adelaide.

 

The three separate programs will be held 7.30pm Friday 18 September, and then 4pm and 7.30pm on Saturday 19 September.

 

Highlights of the festival will include Freefall, a blend of traditional circus techniques, physical theatre and spoken word by Gravity and Other Myths who are a young company formed by past members of Cirkidz.

 

Duplicity is two new performance works by local emerging artists Miriam Lyon, Alysha Herrmann and Portia Mcgann and starring members of RYT, inspired by the theme of ‘using deceit to entertain’.

 

Stages of Life is a play written by 16 year old local playwright Jessica Graham and directed by RYT Artistic Director Julie Waddington.

 

“Last year’s inaugural event was one night with four groups says Tully Bates the Creative Producer”, this year the festival has received an amazing amount of interest and grown to three programs over two days involving more than fifty artists including actors, directors, writers, musicians, dancers, animators, filmmakers and choreographers”.
